1880 Hong Kong has announced that Jens Ritter, the renowned German artist who has been described as “a cross between Stradivari and Picasso”, will be in residence from 24 to 28 March. He specialises in sealing handmade electric guitars with exquisite craftsmanship and reshaping them into meaningful works of art.
Jens Ritter's "Sleeping Beauties" handmade electric guitar exhibition will be exhibited on the third floor of 1880 SOCIAL. The collection includes six sealed electric guitars that are no longer used for playing. These exhibits have been in a quiet sleep for over a hundred years and contain profound artistic ideas. His work has been favored by legendary singers such as Prince, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Van Halen, George Benson and Nile Rodgers, witnessing the inseparable connection between creativity and spirituality, and highlighting the irreplaceable value of craftsmanship in an era when music creation is increasingly dependent on artificial intelligence.
Jens Ritter's "Sleeping Beauty" handmade electric guitar exhibition will be on display throughout Art Month. The exhibition also offers free guided tours led by Jens Ritter. Reservations can be made by contacting the 1880 SOCIAL team via email to RSVP@1880.com.hk or WhatsApp +852 3610 8180. Jens Ritter will also host a private lunch for 1880 members and personally host a symposium and guided tour from 6:30pm to 8pm on Thursday, March 27, 2025, giving the public the opportunity to interact face-to-face with Jens Ritter and experience his passion for crafts, art and rock music in the age of artificial intelligence. Tickets are now on sale to the public at HK$88. Please click here for more details.
